It’s that time again where we welcome another fantabulous marketing marvel into the StrategiQ family. This time, we welcome strategy superstar and snazzy stache’d Head of Marketing & Business Development, Phil McEwan!
So what did Phil get up to before joining StrategiQ?
Phil has a diverse background, working both in-house and agency side for over 14 years. During his career, Phil has developed and delivered everything from digital strategies and creative marketing campaigns for international organisations, through to digital transformation and brand activation campaigns for fledgling retail and FMCG brands. Over the years he has worked with brands including Merlin Entertainments, Barclays, Adidas, Red Bull, Festival Republic and Warner Bros Studios (to name but a few).
When he’s not in the office, Phil also works as a freelance marketing and events consultant, helping brands demystify the world of digital marketing as well as running event operations for major festivals around the country. At heart, he’s a digital strategist, taking pride in analysing, ideating and implementing the most effective and efficient strategy for any challenge, working with all kinds of stakeholders, internally and externally, across multi-disciplined projects to get it just right.
A bit more about Phil
Phil is another one of those mad extreme sports junkies, and his background in extreme sports is actually where his love for marketing began. From travelling the world and competing, he slowly moved into events and project management, PR and marketing. While still doing the odd bit of inline skating (ramps and handrails, not spandex and leg warmers), Phil is also a bit of a music fan, with what he calls an eclectic taste – but his heart has always been on the heavier side. A true metalhead, Phil is actively involved in the music scene, although he doesn’t play any instruments himself, instead helping local venues promote live music through to stage managing the VIP area for one of the UK’s largest heavy metal festivals, Bloodstock.
If that wasn’t enough, Phil has an impressive repertoire of circus skills – he is an especially good juggler (both with juggling balls and complex projects!) – he’s also a bit of a nerd and loves Star Wars, so much so that he’d be a strong contender on Mastermind.
