Edit: Unfortunately, the event has been postponed due to the extreme heat. We will update the below when we have been assigned a new run date, expected to be in August/September. We are continuing to raise money, with a new target amount of £800, so please continue to donate if you can and keep an eye on our social media for updates!

That’s right! A bunch of the StrategiQ team are taking on the Tough Mudder half challenge the 7th of July in London. There’s not long to go and we’re dedicating our challenge to raising money for a local animal rescue centre: Suffolk Animal Rescue.

What is Tough Mudder?

Tough Mudder is a 5-mile or 8 Kilometer assault course, with lots and lots of mud, as you may have guessed. It involves 13 obstacles including huge hay bales, deep and very cold water, jumps and tunnels – which are not for the faint-hearted! It’s not a race and – the aim is to finish, although we’ll definitely enjoy the complimentary pint of cider and a nice hot shower afterwards. Personally, I chose to do Tough Mudder because I’m not so good at running and wanted to do something that was challenging, fun and unusual – so what better to do than a muddy assault course!

Why Suffolk Animal Rescue?

We chose to raise funds for Suffolk Animal Rescue because they’re very special to my own heart. Saber the Staffie came from SAR in early 2016 after having what we could only assume was a rough life and ended up living in London after being adopted by my sister.

Saber had the best two years of his life living in London, regularly taking visits to the pub, runs and walks in Morden Park, chewing up footballs, cuddling and licking everyone he could possibly get hold of – but sadly, he developed very aggressive cancer in his nose and we had to say a very emotional goodbye to him in January 2018.

He was a super special dog with so much love to give, and we can safely say that he made the lives of my sister and her partner an extra happy place for the short two years he was around and had a huge impact on our family. My sister and her partner have since been able to adopt another older Staffie called “Honey” due to their former experience with the breed, thanks to Saber.

So, we have decided to do Tough Mudder and raise money to honour Saber and rescue centres everywhere by raising at least £500 to donate to the centre, which specialises in rehoming older animals.  If you would like to donate, you can go to our fundraising page or text SABE94 to 70070 to donate £5. Any donation would be greatly appreciated by the animals at the rescue centre!

Keep an eye on our social media for updates from the day, and of course – don’t forget to donate!

Thank You
