About the UK Search Awards
The UK Search Awards, now in its 12th year, is a prestigious awards ceremony that recognises excellence in SEO, PPC and content marketing in the UK. We have supported the awards since the beginning, and, as the ‘Oscars’ of our industry, the scale of the event is awe-inspiring with 69 categories and up to 12 projects shortlisted in each.
The industry’s best
The shortlists read like a Who’s Who of search marketing excellence, featuring projects for household brands such as O2, Kegel8, George at ASDA and The Cotswold Company alongside our own award-winning entry for StrategiQ & Factory Direct Flooring in the ‘Best Use of Search’ – Retail/Ecommerce – SEO.
The awards build on our growing presence in the space, winning Best Small Integrated Search Agency back in 2018 followed by recognition in the Best SEO Campaign (Large) campaign 2021 for our work with Reuters.com – not to mention Silver awards last year for our content strategy for The Air Ambulance Service.
“I am thrilled with the result, which is a true milestone for us as an agency. To gain industry recognition for two large projects in both SEO and PPC, as well as a Silver Award for Best Local Campaign in PPC, is a huge achievement. One award would’ve been a delight. But three is incredible!”
James Bavington, CXO, StrategiQ
The award wins top off the year for what amounts to a huge amount of collaboration, hard work and a fair few sleepless nights.
Big credit goes to our newly minted Head of SEO, Phill Pratt, who took the lead on the SEO side, and to Marketing and Performance Director Charlie Taylor, supported by Paid Media Manager Poppy Court, and Head of Performance, Josh Crawford for their incredible efforts on the PPC and Performance projects.
Of course, projects of this size are a true collaborative effort, so thank you to everyone who supported on FDF, Jacada Travel and Jurassic Fibre – you know who you are!
“Full credit to Phill – it’s a big win for him personally, and of course, to the amazing Paid Media/Performance gurus, Poppy and Josh. I’m blown away by the talent that we have across SEO and PPC here at StrategiQ. These guys fully deserve the credit.”

Why did we win?
We can’t wait for the usual excellent feedback from the judges, but what we’ve noted is that our winning entries are all about supporting businesses through tough times. Factory Direct Flooring, for example. After a short-lived boom in trade when people rushed online to buy DIY flooring during the pandemic, their online visibility dropped like a stone. We very carefully got them back where they needed to be – and beyond.
“We’re delighted that the judges recognised the incredible effort involved in recovering FDF’s online visibility – as an ecommerce business, search engine performance is critical to FDF’s ongoing success.”
James Bavington, CXO, StrategiQ
Jacada too, is a story about rebuilding a client’s online success, carrying out due diligence and engaging clever data strategies to help this luxury travel brand recover stronger than ever from the battering effect of the pandemic.
It’s all about partnership (aka having each other’s backs)
What’s crystal-clear is that collaboration plays a big part in our success story. As an agency, we don’t go about thinking we can do it all ourselves – we’re pretty certain that the judges approved of the way we approach challenges – by having open and honest conversations with the other agencies and partners in our space. Basically, when it comes to solving tricky problems, many heads are infinitely better than one.
On that note, we’d like to wrap up with a few thank yous!
To the organisers and sponsors at the UK Search Awards – for yet another brilliant night and a superbly organised event.
To our clients at Factory Direct Flooring, Jacada Travel and Jurassic Fibre for their support and for giving us the scope to deliver great work.
And last but certainly no means least, to our agency friends – we loved sharing the table with the guys from Assisted, hearing about the great work happening over at Reflect Digital, Embryo and Aira, and hats off to Simon and the team at Blue Array for bagging Best Large SEO Agency. Congratulations to you all!
We’re not ones to boast, but:
For the record, we were also shortlisted for the following categories, taking our total nominations to eight:
- Best Use of Search – Travel/Leisure – StrategiQ and The Broke Backpacker – a supersonic pandemic transformation
- Best Local Campaign (SEO) (Large) – StrategiQ & TONI&GUY – a cut above the rest
- Best Use of Data (PPC – Large) – StrategiQ & Jacada Travel – the power of engineering, analytics and data visualisation.
- Best Use of Data (PPC, Large) – StrategiQ & Jurassic – mining data to unearth value within postcode locations.
- Best Large Integrated Search Agency
See you next year! For now, it’s dust off the late night and back to doing what we do best – delivering great work!
