Following our recent blog about our sponsorship of the Ipswich Sporting Lunch Club, we thought we’d give you a quick update on the progress of teen golfing sensation Lily May Humphreys, one of the most recent local sporting superstars-of-the-future to receive support and funding through SportsAid Suffolk.
From Stoke by Nayland, Essex and only 15 years old, Lily is the reigning English under-16 girls’ golf champion. Earlier this year, she claimed third place at a professional event in Spain; and if that’s not enough, earlier this month, Lily bagged the runner-up spot while competing for the Delamer Comboy Scratch Trophy.
Last year, Lily won the a(fore!)mentioned English U16 girls’ championship, the Fairhaven Trophies and the North of England U16 title.
Set for the U21 England squad, next month will see Lily take part in the French Lady Junior Championships at Saint Cloud with fellow squad members Annabell Fuller (14), Sammy Fuller (17), Sophie Lamb (19), Emily Price (17) and Bel Wardle (17).
As one of the seven local business sponsors working with SportsAid Suffolk via the Ipswich Sporting Lunch Club, we’re very proud to be helping the next generation of British sporting talent by giving them financial support and recognition during the critical early stages of their careers.
We’d like to wish Lily the very best of luck for the French Lady Junior Championships on 17th April – we’ll be following the leaderboard with interest!
