Wove – Bringing Digital Content to a Material World
This site receives the full five stars from us this week, the product is a flexible smartwatch, bringing digital content into the material world, making it something you can wear. It’s a canvas for people to make, share and wear whatever they want, combining the beautiful and useful in entirely new ways.
The product matches the website with its monochrome palette and slick typography. Every page is interesting and engaging with interactive elements which are very subtle, like sliders that when you drag them left and right the watch turns and reveals another side of it displaying another app like emails, text messages received etc.
The main navigational menu reveals a large dial that moves around as you hover over it, a little tricky to click on via the desktop version but fun, on the mobile version it works really well and another cool element on a mobile device is that as you tilt your phone to the right the 3D smartwatch on the screen rotates as you do, we loved that.
If you are a geek or a designer, Wove invites you to apply to become a beta tester and receive a free smartwatch, this is a great way of engaging your community, creating a buzz about the arrival of the product before it’s hit the high street.
There are no social links on the site to share the pages, however, I clicked the ‘Join the Team link https://www.polyera.com/technology.html which took me out of the site to the Polyera site, which is all about the flexible electronics used to create the smartwatch.
Regardless of a couple of marketing misses, we loved the site and awesome device and hope that I might be a lucky beta tester selected.
