As a relatively new Ipswich-based business, we were flattered to be asked to sponsor this year’s Ipswich Sporting Lunch Club events, raising money for SportsAid – the National Charity for Sport.
Each year, SportsAid supports more than 2,000 young “stars of tomorrow” across 75 different sports, ensuring they get the financial help they need to become Britain’s next generation of Olympians and Paralympians.
The corporate sponsors have been carefully chosen from specific sectors relating to professional services, so we’re very proud to be representing the marketing industry.
The other sponsors are Pound Gates Chartered Insurance Brokers, Ensors Chartered Accountants, Handelsbanken, Ellisons Solicitors, Corbel and Picasso HR.
Since 2015, the Ipswich Sporting Lunch Club has hosted two lunches a year, where guests are invited to “get motivated” by sport-related speakers and network with other local businesses in a relaxed, informal atmosphere.
The next lunch will take place at Wherstead Park on 23rd September 2016. All money raised will stay in the county to support Suffolk sports people on their journey to sporting greatness.
Speaking of which, the guest speaker at this event will be none other than Derek Redmond – the Olympian who never gave up.
Derek is a retired British athlete whose inspirational story is epitomised by the memorable incident at the Barcelona Olympics where he completed an emotional lap of the track, with help from his father, on a torn hamstring.
During his career, Derek held the British record for the 400 metres, and won gold medals in the 4×400-metre relay at the World Championships, European Championships and Commonwealth Games.
Our director, Andy Smith, had this to say, “Sponsoring and attending these superb events makes total sense for StrategiQ. Much like the aspiring athletes, the pursuit of excellence, and being the best we can be, is one of our core beliefs as an agency.
“We’re pleased to help, in some small way, to develop exciting new talent and make sure our young sports people get the support they need, when they need it.”
