Being courageous, limitless, knowledgeable and truthful are values that we live by at StrategiQ. So when the opportunity arose to be part of something unforgettable for two incredible charities, how could we turn it down?
Organised by retired Rugby player Oli Hall, a team of 40 riders, mostly ex-rugby players with no prior cycling experience, are making an epic 400-mile journey across five days in September (12th – 16th). The route will take them from Ipswich Rugby Club in England to Melrose Rugby Club in Scotland, to raise £400,000 for All4MND and the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, created in memory of Rugby legend Doddie Weir, who died last year aged just 52 from motor neurone disease (MND).
One of the riders is StrategiQ’s CEO, Andy Smith, who signed up for the challenge after being inspired by Doddie, as well as many other players affected by this condition, made all the more pertinent by the fact that Andy, and many of his teammates, are around the same age that Doddie was diagnosed.
“After speaking with Oli and hearing the stories of Doddie Weir, Rob Burrows and sadly so many more players, it truly resonated with me that this cruel disease affects so many people of my age, and it needs to be better understood to help raise awareness and support those who are going through this terrible condition.”
Could you be a sponsor?
To achieve their ambitious goals, the team have several sponsorship opportunities, including needing a headline sponsor to help achieve their £400k target.
StrategiQ’s network has already pledged amazing support, including the immense generosity of our client and international endurance cycling brand GOREWEAR, who have donated training kits and clothing for the four-day ride to all 40 riders. Oli Hall has also secured the support of Awesome Supplements who are providing a 35% discount for the riders during their training and donating products for the ride itself. We cannot thank them enough.
But there are still more sponsorships needed and generating support from both local and national businesses to help spread the word about these incredible riders and their journey to achieve greatness will help so many lives.
If you’d love to join us and many other businesses who are helping the team, visit the All4MND website for more information on the packages available. Or, if you’ve been inspired, then please do donate to the foundation – all funds, however small, are very gratefully received.
