Joshua in for top position!

It’s a new month, it’s already August and we’re all fully enjoying the classic British summer (including textbook random rainstorms and heatwaves three times a day). July has been an impactful month here at StrategiQ – and it’s led to an incredibly versatile range of nominations for our Monthly MVP award.

Not heard of MVP? Our monthly award for Most Valuable Player does what it says on the tin – a monthly award that celebrates achievement and impact across the business, crowing one individual for their over and above attitude and commitment. The winner receives a day off on the company, and a meal on us to enjoy however they wish.

Let’s get straight into some of our favourite nominations from this month:

“Bex is my MVP.  Someone told me once that no one will ever love your business as much as you.  I find this really hard to accept when you have someone like Bex in the company.  Her work ethic, consistent positive attitude towards finding solutions and genuine care for the business, client’s and team blows me away.  With the resource challenges we have had this month off the back of most of the leadership team going down with Covid, it could have easily resulted in panic stations but Bex alongside Roisin have made sure that there is always a plan and have worked with the team to ensure everything is organised and structured.  Bex definitely deserves a duvet day!”

“Taking over one of our biggest accounts has been a challenge, but one that Hatii’s taken in her stride – of course she has.  She’s confident and in control of meetings with the client, she’s learning the lingo and I’m almost convinced she could give you some financial advice already!  Seriously though, it’s a huge client, lots of moving parts and I’ve been really impressed with how she’s embraced the role, the connection she has with the client already – and the way she works with the team.  She’s already identifying opportunities and offering fresh and insightful perspective on the account.”

“I want to nominate Ian this month. I believe Ian has been flying under the radar for a few months now. He doesn’t shout about his work, nor does he talk about his achievements as much as he should. However, I’ve seen Ian settle into his role here at StrategiQ and play a massive part in helping the design team get a lot of work over the line when feedback has been difficult, other designers have needed some support and Ash has been off. I’ve really seen Ian step up this month in supporting the design team and his ability to drive straight into a meeting, project or training session and add value has meant his experience and expertise is really shining through, meaning that projects continually move forward with his input. His support and organisation and constant communication with development throughout website builds is both inspiring and efficient in the long run. He is now looking at efficiencies in our website processes and his training around UX is also adding value to the design and production teams evolution. Great work, Ian!”

”It was a tricky vote this month, with so many people to choose from. I narrowed it down to Josh, Phill and Levi but this month’s vote has to go to Levi. She excelled on the Bright Local podcast, has achieved fantastic client results and played a key role in getting a new local client project signed off in record time. Levi would be a very deserving winner of July’s MVP.”

Hehe, gee thanks!

And now for the really important bit that everyone’s been waiting for – who won?

But there can be only one winner…

This month the award has gone to one of our newer faces in the team, someone who has made an incredible impact since joining and has excelled in his role. This persons innovative thinking style, quick learning ability and laser sharp focus has won him this month’s title as Most Valuable Player. Our winner for July’s MVP is none other than development superman, Joshua Clare-Flagg!

Here’s some of Josh’s nominations!

“This month my nomination goes to Josh! I’ve been so impressed by his unwavering ‘can-do’ attitude, alongside his attention to detail and ‘get shit done’ mentality. His work on his latest project has been great to witness, as he dove head-first into a ReactApp build and smashed it out of the park – enhancing his expertise in the process! Plus… from what I’ve heard about his other projects, everyone has been full of praise. Above all else he’s just a downright pleasure to work with, and some months the impact of this behaviour on individuals and the agency as a whole can’t be measured! Thanks Josh – keep up the amazing work :)”

“This month I would like to nominate Joshua for MVP. It’s hard to believe that he’s only been working for StrategiQ for just over 2 months as it certainly feels a lot longer. Josh’s work ethic and attention to detail is second to none and on a weekly basis he shows how much he cares for our clients’ websites. He often goes out of his way, in his own time, to audit sites, look at how they can be optimised for performance and researches new methods of making them to be the best sites to be found on the internet! He’s constantly demonstrating his expertise and commerciality – this guy lives and breathes our values. Keep up the great work Josh!”

“Dev Josh has really impressed me this month with his work on Jacada. He has got up to speed with a complex project in the Trip Finder and worked tirelessly to get to the bottom of the code, understand the back end functionality, and he has been incredibly reactive with fantastic communication. Well done!”

“Since joining us I’ve been so impressed with this persons ‘can do’, proactive attitude, who doesn’t just tick off a task, they look for other things that might not be within the task that could be improved and just fixes them without impacting the commercials. Layered with a positive attitude where nothing is too much trouble and great communication skills, Joshua is a delight to work with. His quality of work and meticulous execution on both Jacada and Scrutton Bland is second to none. The microinteractions for the user are a subtle delight and used sparingly and in the right areas which enhances the UX. I’m really looking forward to seeing the finished articles. Josh is a real asset to the development team and I’m expecting big things from this guy in the future!”

Congratulations Josh, you’re smashing it! Enjoy your dinner out and duvet day on us!
