Watching some of the UK’s finest young sports people. Mingling with the region’s most ambitious business owners. And did we mention outstanding hospitality? Being a headline sponsor is a tough gig – but someone’s got to do it!
We’re fresh from St Joseph’s College National Schools Rugby Festival 2022. The festival – now in its 36th year – took place Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th October.
‘St Jos’ – as it’s known locally and further afield – welcomed around 8,000 people through its gates to watch high-level fixtures from some of the most prestigious rugby-playing schools in the country including Marlborough, Dulwich and Millfield.
Our Exhibitor’s tent gave us a brilliant gameside spot, allowing the StrategiQ crew to take in the action. We had a ball (sorry!) over the two day tournament, which ended with an exciting win for Millfield School.
Firstly, a huge THANK YOU to everyone who made the event possible, with a specific shout-out to Lucy Bolton, senior events co-ordinator at the school, and Richard Jackson from @NextGenXV for the brilliant live stream.
While mulling over the finer points of the game, we made quite a few connections between the action in the office and on the pitch. Read on to learn more.
Like rugby, agency life is all about strategy.
Events are great fun, and it’s so good to be back in the game – but even so, businesses can’t just pitch up and expect the leads to start rolling in. We set ourselves clear goals, measuring how much of our investment led to brand awareness through engagement on social and website traffic. We had a lot of fun with the creative!
Want to know how you’d look wearing the St Jo’s rugby shirt?
Our festival-special instagram filters gave everyone the chance to wear it like a pro:
Who doesn’t love a competition?
We gave business owners the opportunity to win a StrategiQ company rebrand worth £10,000 – we’ll announce the winner very soon!
Great teamwork is essential.
We had a big brand presence, but those flags didn’t go up by themselves. Our team worked their backsides off before, during and after the event to make it happen.
Like rugby, we scout specialists who know their positions inside out; from events management to social media, photography and merchandising.
We think the guys did a great job of showcasing our new brand – just check out those feather flags against the gorgeously blue October sky!
Resilience is key.
While we don’t tend to break bones in our game, we still have to be strong in tough times. We all have those days when we get blindsided – but our team mindset means that we simply dust ourselves off, and go again.
For example, lots of things went brilliantly, but we noticed a few missed opportunities that had us itching to get back and go again – watch out, St Jo’s 2023!
