A Very On-Brand New Hire

3 min read by Levi Clucas 24 May 2022

It feels like literally five minutes since I last wrote one of these – and this time I think it might have been! We’re saying hello to yet another new face at StrategiQ, and this time it’s a new starter in the creative and branding team. Please join us in welcoming Brand Strategist to the stars, Louise Goodthorp!

What’s Louise’s background?

Well, Louise has a rather interesting origin story. After completing a degree in English Literature and Creative Writing, Louise became a script researcher on one of the most well-known hospital dramas out there – Holby City! How cool! She spent a lot of her time learning about the human body, helping to make the scripts as medically accurate as is possible on TV, and her high-pressure role sure taught her a lot about deadlines! Louise also won a place at the BBC Writers School, where she continued to hone her writing skills.

When she moved on from the BBC, Louise wanted to keep writing at the forefront of her next role, so she became a freelance copywriter and enjoyed some travelling for inspiration at the same time. Eventually, the opportunity arose for Louise to join a branding agency, where she started out as a copywriter and gradually built up her skillset over time to become a creative strategist over 7.5 years, working with a huge range of businesses and brands in the process.

What does Louise do for fun?

Apart from being super creative, Louise is an adventurer at heart and loves to explore and experience new cultures, countries and activities abroad. In the past 7 years, She’s been just about everywhere, including Iceland, Cuba, Italy (where she got engaged, cute!), Norway, Mexico, Greece, New York and Florida, and is about to jet off to California in the summertime. When she’s not off abroad, Louise loves a staycation and recently adopted a rescue puppy from Romania, Bear, as a new travel buddy for her adventures around the UK.

Aside from travelling, Louise loves the Arts – poetry, books, and musicals being some of her favourites (which explains the photo below…) as well as enjoying a bit of TV drama and the latest series on Netflix.

Why did you join StrategiQ, Louise?

“I had the joy of previously working with the Creative Director, Ashley and also Graphic Designer, Max. After catching up with Ashley and hearing all about the fantastic things happening at StrategiQ and where my branding expertise could potentially come into play, I knew I wanted to be part of the team. I’m really excited to start this next chapter of my career.”

We’re excited to have you aboard, Louise! Welcome to the team!
